The parts that add up to the sum of me are imbedded in my cultural background: African and American. As the son an immigrant work and a U.S citizen, I am a part of 2 Americas. Like the great scholar W.E.B. Du Bois once noted, I am living with a double consciousness. Being born and raised(a) in Newark, New Jersey to these parents has produced two positive as swell up as negative experiences.
